DIY Tea Bags

How cute is this idea from Cupcakes and Cashmere.  This is something I really want to try, but alas, it's a matter of time.  It's a great gift idea, but I'm also thinking of making tea bags pour moi.  Tea bags are expensive, and I use them a lot when I'm at work (sometimes 2-3 a day...yes I know, re-use the tea bag, but it tastes different after the first soak).

I have a few ideas lined up for this weekend (work avoidance at it's finest), so this may just be one of them :)

Fold filter, sew edges, add tea, add a tag and VOILA, tea bags avec cuteness!

I love boots

Yes I do.  They're comfy (assuming you have the right pair), they're cute (my husband will disagree) and they're practical (sort of).

I don't wear my boots a lot, unless it's really cold or raining or i'm treading through snow (on the rare occasion I'm in snow, ha!).  SoCal is rarely cold, and I think it looks funny wearing boots to lab or shopping when its 70 degrees outside.  Other SoCal residents would definitely disagree though.

Birthday Celebration

I got no work done this past weekend, which always makes my week even more hectic, but, on Sunday I went to a birthday lunch for a friend in dowtown Brea.  I'm not the type of person to be really excited about trying something new (it usually doesn't go well when I do).  I usually avoid it as much as I can and go for safe options, especially if I'm really hungry, but I thought I would be brave this time and go with the flow.  I'd never been to Bruxie's before and I was actually very surprised at how good their food was.  A definite must for all.  I will definitely be coming back here again!

Yes, sandwiche's in a waffle.  It was amazingly good...who would have thought!

Albacore Tuna Melt with cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomatoes.  Quite delicious!

Waffle fries
Irish Nachos - waffle fries with homemade cheese sauce, sour cream and chives

We went to Farrell's for a birthday ice cream surprise.

We stood in line for 45 minutes (in the cold) to have ice cream :D The ice cream was good, but the main reason we went there was because of their song and dance accompanied by sirens and drumming for those celebrating their birthday (or any event really).  It was really great and I think the birthday girl had a blast!
Yes, grown women like to color too!
There goes my diet :D woohoo!

Wedding

The hubby and I went to a wedding on Saturday evening in Huntington Beach.  It was a really beautiful evening and a chance to get all dressed up and have some fun.  Everything was so elegant and organized (I love organized weddings!) and the bride looked so happy!

The hotel was situated right near the beach and if it hadn't been so misty, you would have been able to see the ocean.

Puzzle pice "guest book".  Very cute idea.

Tea station :)

Oh yes, I got me some Persian Tea, a very rare thing at most weddings...GOOD TEA!

Many happy thoughts for the new couple.  Wishing them a long life of happiness and joy with all things beautiful :)

Bangles Galore

I spent a few hours on Saturday quickly shopping for a few gifts for friends and family for upcoming birthdays and weddings.  On my quest to find the perfect gifts, I stumbled upon a display of bangles that were to die for.  I have a "hinged" bangle obsession, in addition to the many other obsessions that I have.  I have really big hands or bones...not sure which, and can't wear bangles no matter how hard I try or how much Vaseline I slather them with...bangles just won't slip on.  So, when I come across a bangle that is hinged, I jump for it.  However, I contained myself this time...but it might not happen again.

It was a really lovely cloudy and wet day...one of those rare days here in SoCal that I cherish.

It started to get very misty and cold as the fog began to roll in.  It's wonderful living near the ocean.  I tried to get a picture to show the clouds rolling in, but just imagine walking through a layer of white mist floating over you.  It was very surreal.
