Happy Friday

First and foremost, thank God it's Friday.  Secondly, I have found a new lab to join and I'm secretly super excited, or not so secretly, hehe.  I hope I've made the right decision and I hope that it works out in the long run.  Grant money is super tight so as of next year, things might be up in the air with funding, but I hope from now until then, I will get a good project, get LOTS of data, find a fellowship of some sort and/or boss gets his grant re-funded.  This is me being uber optimistic.  But, we'll see what happens.  For now, a small weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can take a minute to breath.  I have to get into gear for a long haul of hard work, so I hope this excitement lasts (or as my hubby put it...it better!).

I have tons to do this weekend for prepping for Noruz, and I have presents to wrap and some baking to do...and tons of non-school related things....fun :D

Happy Friday

Today is the 14th day of Ramadan, which means, we are almost halfway through the month.  I am so behind in my Quran reading, in addition to all the other things i'm behind in, such as my pre-advancement preparation...non existent as of this point.  I have handfuls of papers left to grade before Monday and we are also taking a trip to Sea World tomorrow.  My father-in-laws company has yearly retreats for their employees and this year, they have invited everyone to Sea World.  I have to squeeze in some lab work tomorrow before we go, so it's going to be a bit hectic, but I really am looking forward to getting a change of scenery.

I do have a confession to make.  I had promised a certain friend, a long time ago, before she got very sick, that I would wait till she got better so we could go together.  She has never been to Sea World and the last time I went, I was really small.  I'm breaking that promise to her tomorrow, so I hope she forgives me.  However, I will be thinking about her ALL DAY LONG and I'll be scouting out the best things to see for our, hopefully soon, next trip ;)

Happy Friday

Southern California has been having very strange weather over the past couple days for the month of July.  It has been cloudy, rainy and hot.  It other words, it has been HUMID. Yuck!  The weather has been so strange that it has been mentally and physically exhausting me.  No motivation to eat, exercise, or even do work.  I can't seem to get enough sleep either.  I've been in lab, but my brain has been on pinterest, twitter, and amazon all day.  I'm looking forward to this weekend and just staying in and relaxing.  Although, I will have to go to lab on Sunday...but I'm not going to think about it till later :)

Friday is finally here.  I have so much to do, and yet, when it's the weekend, things seem to be so much better.  Here is a checklist of all the things I need to get done this weekend.  Maybe if I publish it, I will
actually be forced to do it :D

1) Pure Barre 10:45am on Sat. and Sun.
2) Clean house - vacuum, dust, wipe kitchen floor (why does the kitchen floor always get so dirty?)
3) Fold ALL the laundry (there's a lot...sigh)
4) Go to Lowe's - buy flowers
5) Go to JoAnn Fabrics - buy material to fix dress (I've been trying to do this for months now)
6) Go grocery shopping
7) Get gas for car
8) Clean balcony, plant flowers
9) Work on Pre-advancement proposal (God...I've been avoiding this)
10) Lunch with a friend on Sun.
11) Pay the bills
12) Hem husbands pants (I've been trying to do this too, for 4 months now)
13) Make time to see the ocean, even for 5 minutes (I always want to do this, but it never happens)


Clearly nothing on this list, other than working on my pre-advancement is priority, but who said I had my priority's straight...ha!!

What a week and what a day.  I have been really good about going to my Pure Barre classes everyday, but today, I messed up the class time and drove all the way over to the class (20 minutes away) only to realize there are no classes at that time.  I WAS PISSED.  I didn't go to lab in the morning so I could exercise and I didn't even get to do that. So as I write this on a Friday night, I am still in lab...feeling blubbery from not working out and frustrated that I got into lab so late.

But, on a good note, my brother is visiting this weekend (he's driving down the 5 as I write this), so I'm excited to see him.  He's coming to visit for my birthday and I'm actually really happy he is.  We used to celebrate our birthdays together when we were younger and then as I got older, I started to have all girls party's and we pretty much haven't celebrated one together at all, so I think maybe this Sunday, we can celebrate both of ours together (not sure how I'm going to do that but I really want to).  I'm also stressed to make sure he has a good time while he's here especially since I have to squeeze in a few stupid experiments this weekend and try to make time to exercise.  Why do I do this to myself.

Anyways...hope everyone had/has a great Friday and an even better weekend to come!

Friday is finally here! I will be in lab, but I also plan on setting up our Persian new year sofreh (new year spread) this weekend.

Another week's gone by...

Well, its Friday again.  What a week!  I have been so busy and stressed and I think I have come down with a cold that started with a horrible toothache 2 nights ago, and now that the toothache is gone (weirdly enough) my ear is killing me.  Here we go again...another ear infection (my last one was in December, what the heck??).  I couldn't get a doctor's appointment today, so I'm going to hope/pray that somehow I don't get sicker over the weekend, and if I do, 5 hour wait at urgent care, here I come.

I'm crossing my fingers and praying hard that my results work today.  This whole week would have been a waste.  Please God, please help me!

But on a happier note, it's Friday! I am not planning experiments this weekend (though I probably should), becasue I don't feel good, so humph Dr. F!

Fishi and Spots have a new home and they will be moving in sometime this weekend! More updates on that to come :D

Happy Friday

This has been a busy busy week, but it is finally at an end.  I have decided (lets see how long this holds up) not to come into lab at all this weekend.  I have things I want to get to and lots of shows to catch up on ;)

Yesterday I gave my 1 hour presentation on IAP's and Apoptosis (for the non-science majors: Google it!) It took me 3 days of straight sitting to prepare for it and I'm soooooo glad its over.  Many thanks to my wonderful husband for his help and patience while I prepared and practiced it on him.  I am free for the rest of the quarter.  Now, lets get all those experiments working!!

Today is Friday, which means tomorrow is Saturday which means I don't have to go to lab! Yay for me! Well there is always work, but tomorrow I plan on being a bum on the couch :-D
